Even when companies have the capital, the land, and the hardware, they may still need to wait for permission and grid access.


This constraint is often overlooked in discussions about AI growth.


But in practice, physical infrastructure and regulatory timelines can shape how quickly AI systems scale.


Technology may advance rapidly.


But power grids and permitting systems move at a slower pace.


This creates a mismatch.


The speed of AI innovation is measured in months.


The expansion of energy infrastructure is measured in years.


As a result, the real limit to AI growth may not always be chips or software.


It may simply be how quickly new facilities can connect to the electric grid.
